Chinta Cafe - What's not to Love?

Chinta, the homewares store and cafe that offers not only glorious food but delightful finds as well, has moved to bigger premises. The popular business moved from Doubleview to North Perth, opening its new doors in late April.

It has kept its design concept of a laidback cafe with an Indonesian retail shop. Chinta means ‘love’ in Balinese and Robyn and Graham, the owners of Chinta, are lovers of Indonesia and Bali in particular. They frequently travel back to the region on holidays and to pick up homewares and trinkets for their shop, such as large furniture pieces, clothes and smaller wares including candleholders, fabric napkins, art and jewellery.

The café menu however, is modern Australian, offering healthy fare such as Bircher muesli, Chorizo cous cous haloumi salad, veggie bagels or spicy lamb pocket. They also serve great coffee, using Di Bella beans, and are open for breakfast and lunch.

The Caterlink fitout began from scratch in an empty service station in late 2015. One of the main challenges in renovating the kitchen was fitting the canopy as the ceiling height in the room was very low. This was resolved by reshuffling the layout of the kitchen.

There were no specialist kitchen equipment requirements; they installed basic ovens, cooktops, griddles, fryers using mainly Waldorf equipment and chose Skope Centaur for refrigeration.
From start to completion took only three to four months as Caterlink had all the kitchen equipment in stock, ready to go.

They can now seat more customers and feature a bigger retail area. Chinta’s new North Perth establishment opened in late April.  Please drop in ΜΆ  we know you’ll love it.
