Vels Equipment Supply and Fit-Out

Vels Clyde North is the newest and most ambitious chapter in the Vel Spices journey. Purpose-built and family owned, the business is run by three brothers who share a deep passion for food, culture, and community. The name “Vel” is a tribute to their father, whose first name inspired the brand and whose values continue to guide its growth. This new site brings together everything customers have come to love in one dynamic location.

Inside, the grocery store offers a huge selection of Indian and Sri Lankan groceries including spices, lentils, rice varieties, frozen meals, snacks, sweets, fresh sweets, frozen foods, oils, pickles and more. The range is aligned with the offerings at their Carrum Downs flagship store. Beyond the grocery, the building also includes a fine dining restaurant with outdoor seating, a separate takeaway café serving popular dishes like dosa, idli, curries, sweets and beverages such as mango lassi, a drive-thru coffee window, and a spacious, luxurious function hall for events and community gatherings.

Caterlink played a key role in the development of the Clyde North location. Continuing the collaboration established during the Carrum Downs set-up, Caterlink was engaged to deliver the full venue fit-out. Our scope included consultation, design, project management, and the supply and installation of commercial kitchen equipment.

Completed areas included both back and front of house. In the back of house, we delivered preparation zones, cooking lines, refrigeration, and storage. The front of house included food preparation areas, display counters, bar sections and a dedicated freezer room. As part of the fit-out, we supplied and installed a full suite of commercial equipment, including Williams refrigeration, a Viking Metos stirring kettle (supplied by Moffat), Waldorf Jump pressurised and standard bratt pans, Hobart undercounter and pass-through dishwashers, Cossiga display units, Rational combi ovens, Pitco fryers, and custom-built stainless steel benches.
