Supporting Black Cockatoo Conservation
Donating Equipment to Help Save Endangered Black Cockatoos
As a carbon neutral commercial kitchen supplier and designer, Caterlink is proud to support environmental initiatives that make a real difference in our local community.
Recently, we donated a number of Simply Stainless benches to the Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre, located in the Perth Hills. This not-for-profit organisation is entirely volunteer-run and plays a vital role in rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing injured or sick black cockatoos native to Western Australia.

These donated benches are now used in the centre’s treatment and recovery areas, where maintaining a clean, sterile surface is crucial for the birds’ care and healing process. It’s a small but practical way we can help ensure these endangered animals receive the attention they need.
Protecting a Species Under Threat
During our visit, volunteer Sam Clarke shared some stricking facts. The Baudin’s Black Cockatoo is now critically endangered, with only an estimated 3,500 to 4,500 mature birds left in the wild. Their numbers are declining rapidly due to a combination of habitat loss, bushfires, vehicle collisions, illegal shooting, attacks by other species, and increasingly severe weather events.
We would like to thank the team at Kaarakin for inviting the Caterlink team to their facility, offering a tour, and sharing their incredible work and insights. Their dedication and compassion are truly inspiring. If you’re looking for a meaningful cause to support, we encourage you to consider donating to Kaarakin. Your contribution can help ensure the survival of Western Australia’s iconic black cockatoos.
