Project Portfolio
A Purpose-Built Grab & Go Kiosk for Caulfield Grammar School
Caulfield Grammar School’s new Grab & Go Kiosk in East St Kilda was developed to provide students, staff and visitors with a convenient food and coffee service in a compact, high-functioning venue. Caterlink was engaged to consult, design, manage and deliver the fit out, including equipment supply and installation across the front of house display, coffee preparation and dishwashing areas.
The project was delivered in coordination with the school’s project manager and the venue operator, building on an existing client relationship. From inception to completion, the project took approximately six months, with the kiosk officially completed in May 2026.
Planning and Consultation
The early planning stage drew on information from another café operating elsewhere on the same campus. Working closely with the operator and Caulfield Grammar School, Caterlink discussed what the new kiosk needed to achieve in its East St Kilda location, including service flow, product display and the practical requirements of a grab and go offer.
As the food would be prepared elsewhere and served from the kiosk, the fit out needed to focus on efficient holding, display and point-of-service functionality. Coffee would be made fresh on site, requiring a dedicated coffee area that could operate smoothly alongside the food display zone.
Caterlink also inspected the proposed location before building works began. The space was being converted from a redundant electrical substation into a usable hospitality venue, making early site review an important part of understanding the available footprint and potential constraints.
Caterlink’s scope included
• Consultation with Caulfield Grammar School’s project manager and the venue operator
• Project management of fitout
• Design coordination
• Equipment supply
• Installation and fit out support
The completed kiosk includes:
• Front of house hot and refrigerated food display
• Coffee preparation area
• Dishwashing area
• Undercounter refrigeration for operational storage
Project Challenges
The building conversion presented challenges, with site impediments affecting the construction process. As the venue was being created within a former electrical substation, the project required careful coordination around the existing structure and building works to ensure the final kiosk could function effectively within the available space.
Key Equipment Supplied
Caterlink supplied equipment selected to support fast service, product presentation and day-to-day operational efficiency, including:
• Meiko U500 Rack Undercounter Dishwasher
• SKOPE BCE600N Upright Display Fridge
• Cossiga BTGHT9-SD Heated Glass Food Display Cabinet
• Cossiga BTGRF9-SD Refrigerated Food Display Cabinet
• Anvil FBC2201 Undercounter Fridge
The Outcome
The finished Grab & Go Kiosk provides Caulfield Grammar School with a practical and well-organised foodservice venue suited to high-frequency campus trade. With dedicated areas for display, coffee service and wash-up, the kiosk supports quick customer flow while presenting ready-to-serve food in a professional retail format.
Caterlink was proud to support the school and venue operator in transforming a previously redundant site into a functional hospitality space designed for everyday campus use.
