Exploring Commercial Kitchen Innovation and Hospitality Careers

We were pleased to welcome a group of students from the Australian Professional Skills Institute (APSI) to our Perth showroom for an interactive learning experience focused on the future of hospitality.

Led by Angus McNamara, the session offered valuable, real-world insights into career pathways within the hospitality industry. Angus shared advice drawn from years of hands-on experience, covering everything from working in fast-paced commercial kitchens to the realities of opening and managing your own venue.

Hands-On Introduction to Industry-Leading Equipment

Students were introduced to a wide range of innovative commercial kitchen equipment and technology, giving them a first-hand look at tools they’ll likely encounter in their future workplaces.

Key highlights included:

  • Induction cooking technology, noted for its energy efficiency – with up to 90% of energy transferred directly to food, compared to only 50–60% with traditional gas methods. Students explored our Luus induction cooktops and experienced TPB Tech’s invisible induction cooktop, an innovative solution combining performance with sleek design.
  • Exhaust hoods, Merrychef speed ovens, and the Botinkit kitchen robot – showcasing how modern kitchens are embracing automation and efficiency.
